Hybrid ¾ Travel Upright Bass Custom Made

This Instrument was Commissioned by Jean-François Martel for his Doctoral Project on Cuban Music. He needed a versatile and fully adjustable Upright bass, with the same Specs as his 3/4 Orchestral bass made by Romeo Gabute/Philippines. The bass was made to fly with him on several up coming trips tu Cuba and it had to made smaller in Width and Depth to save on the Case dimensions and Airline Overcharge on Oversize baggages.

He also needed the real feel of the large instrument and feel of vibrations on the Top plate and to have a very good good Electronic Transducer system to get more power out of the smaller bodied instrument.

Here, he got it all! The Hand Carved Salvaged Western Red Cedar Top is a powerful advantage on such a small instrument. Even with its Half Depth it produces a powerful, warm, balanced & rich tone and with the K&K Bass Master pro System you wouldn’t even notice its less then Half the Size of a conventional Upright Bass!
